I sold my properties to sustain scholarships for students – Kwankwaso

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has pledged to continue to strive hard toward making Nigeria great. He also said he had to sell some of his properties to sustain the scholarships he gives to university students. Mr Kwankwaso said these at the 3rd Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Colloquium organised by the Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation to mark his 66th birthday on Monday in Abuja. The former governor of Kano State described education as the best investment politicians can make in the people,saying he had always invested in education and human development because of their impact on people’s lives. 2023: NNPP raises alarm over purchase of PVCs

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP has  called the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security agencies to recover all permanent voter cards, PVCs allegedly bought by some politicians ahead of 2023 elections. Party’s National Chairman, Rufai Ahmed Alkali made the call at a seminar organised by the party to promote synergy between NNPP candidates and support groups ahead of next year’s general elections. He said the war against electoral fraud must begin now as the NNPP expresses confidence for victory of its candidates in 2023 ahead of the unveiling their manifesto in the next few days. The party advised Nigerians to only vote candidates capable of changing the current situations in the country.

The construction of the Lagdo Dam located in Northern Cameroon started in 1977 and was completed in 1982. Due to the release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon, many Nigerian communities along the courses of River Niger and River Benue have been affected by floods. The flooding which has claimed many lives and properties  has also ravaged communities in Delta, Benue, Adamawa, Taraba, Anambra, and Nasarawa state. In September, the National Emergency Management Agency and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NHISA) informed Nigerians that “the Lagdo Dam operators in the Republic of Cameroon, had commenced the release of excess water from the reservoir on September 13, 2022”. The agencies said they were “aware that the released water cascades down into Nigeria, through River Benue and its tributaries, thereby overwhelming communities that have already been impacted by heavy rainfall”. BREAKING: Appeal Court Discharges IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has discharged the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is being prosecuted by the Federal Government at the Federal High Court in Abuja for 15 count charges bordering, including treasonable felony and terrorism, offences he allegedly committed in the course of his separatist campaigns. A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal said the Federal High Court lacks the jurisdiction to try him in view of his abduction and extraordinary rendition to Nigeria in flagrant violation of the OAU convention and protocol on extradition. The court held that the 15-count charge preferred against Kanu did not disclose the place, date, time and nature of the alleged offences before being unlawfully extradited to Nigeria in clear violation of international treaties. LP unveils 1,234 Presidential Campaign Council

The Labour Party on Wednesday unveiled its Presidential Campaign Council, consisting of 1,234 members. The Director General of the Council, Doyin Okupe, also said those who think that the party has only social media supporters will be in for a surprise at the polls in 2023. Addressing journalists in Abuja, Okupe explained that over 80% of all new voters in the forthcoming general elections are supporters of the Labour Party. Okupe retained his position as the DG of the Council while a retired assistant Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Zarewa is the chairman of the council. The National Organising Secretary of Labour Party, Clement Ojukwu read the names of the party’s campaign council for the 2023 presidential election. According to him, the 1,234 member-campaign council is an all inclusive organisation. DSS arrests soldier allegedly hiring out and selling guns to kidnappers.

A soldier attached to the Muhamadu Buhari cantonment in Tungan Maje in the FCT has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services for allegedly hiring out and selling guns to kidnappers.    He was arrested last week around Dankogi Park in Zuba in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in the area.    Reports say the soldier hired a gun to the kidnappers for 300,000 in one of the operations and in another instance, he recieved 200,000 for one gun.    Unfortunately for the soldier, the kidnappers were arrested and they mentioned him as their gunrunner.   They contacted him for another deal to supply them with AK 47 rifles to buy at three million naira and he fell for it.    They went to the agreed site in Zuba and took position.    He arrived in his car to present the arm and the security men swoop on him.
