Igbo Group Advocates For A United Igbo Land Ahead Of 2023

A pan Igbo cultural Organization, G5 Igbo leaders forum has advocated for a united Igbo land and need to come together to chat a common cause towards a better Igbo land and Nigeria.

Speaking during an event in Abuja where the group honored a top Igbo traditional ruler, HRH, Eze Dr. Uche Egenti, the organization through it's national coordinator, Hon. Soji  Martins Ogbonna, said it is time for all Igbo's to come together to support each other in building a better Nigeria.

According to Ogbonna, the group which was launched in the United States of America in May this year is apolitical, but with a strong interest in uniting all Igbo's in Nigeria and beyond called on Igbo's to ensure they elect leaders that will restore peace and development in the country.

In his opening remarks, the prime minister of the group Barr. Basil M. Anasoh equally advised Igbos to unite ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

He urged Igbo's at home to reject any attempt by anyone or political party to be used as an agent of thuggery to unleash mayhem for political gains, stressing that it is only fair that the next president should be someone that is ready to work with the Southeast geopolitical zone.

Ezeudo, HRH Egenti while thanking the group for the honour done to him, urged leaders in the southeast region to unite irrespective of party differences, called the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Congress (APC) and other political parties to ensure equity and fairness as they engage in electionnering campaign.

While admonishing the people, Ezeudo said, "As an Eze Igbo I must have an ambition but my ambition must not be greater than the collective ambition of all igbos. I must leave my personal interest, my personal ego and enthusiasm for other Igbo's to thrive, he said."

"What will it profit a man to see what's right and left it to do what's wrong.

There's nothing you gives to God that He takes, than living your life for humanity, leave a space in your heart for others to succeed." He explained

He also says that the buck of his responsibility is to protect the average Igbo man and encouraged other Nigerians to abstain from evil and do what is right, "the idea of stealing what you cannot use does not make sense." Ezeudo further said.

“We want the political Elites in Nigeria, to support Ndigbo, to elect a president of Igbo extraction. From the time of Obasanjo to this Buhari and Osibanjo administration, the Igbo's has been denied the opportunity to the lead the country, now, it is our turn.” he emphasised

"It's an albration for any Igbo man to support any candidate from any other ethnic group than the South East."

Ezeudo also condemned in strong terms the killing of youths in the south east and other parts of the country and urged the Federal Government to rejig the security architecture in the country to tackle insecurity in Nigeria.
